The 4th edition of CIGOFA concluded successfully, gathering young leaders, experts, and policymakers from across Africa for crucial discussions on youth land rights and sustainable governance. Relive the highlights of this impactful event!

The International Youth Land Governance Conference in Africa (CIGOFA), held from October 20 to 24, 2024, at the Mount Meru Hotel in Arusha, Tanzania, welcomed participants from across the continent. This 4th edition focused on the importance of youth land rights for a sustainable future in Africa, providing a platform to discuss challenges and solutions in land governance.
Advancing Youth Land Rights in Africa: Helping Young People Build a Better Future. This theme inspired rich and varied discussions, shedding light on the barriers to youth access to land and the land policies needed to address real-world challenges.
– Expert Panels: Renowned land governance experts shared insights on current policies and the unique challenges in different African regions, offering practical solutions to improve land access.
– Practical Workshops: Participants took part in interactive workshops, equipping them with knowledge on land access processes, land management tools, and community engagement.
– Young Leaders’ Testimonials: Young activists and leaders from several African countries shared personal experiences, highlighting real examples of challenges overcome and successful local initiatives that ensure youth access to land resources.
The discussions underscored the urgency of securing land rights for youth and highlighted the vital role they play in Africa’s sustainable development. Resolutions were made to strengthen local initiatives, encourage land policy innovation, and continue efforts to improve youth access to land.
CIGoFA 4 was a key milestone in raising awareness, mobilizing, and engaging youth on land governance issues. Through discussions, experience sharing, and commitments made, this edition laid the foundation for ongoing actions to support youth land rights in Africa.
