The Global Land Forum Youth (GLFY) 2025 in Colombia: A Key In-Person Gathering

Youth Initiative for Land in Africa (YILAA) is fully committed to the second edition of the Global Land Forum Youth (GLFY) 2025, a three-day pre-forum event that will be held in Colombia. This in-person gathering is a pivotal moment for young people within the ILC (International Land Coalition) network and our broader network, offering a crucial space for youth-led discussions and intensive networking around the challenges and opportunities related to land access and management.

With 56% of the world’s population being young people, and 90% of them living in developing countries, their role in sustainable development is absolutely crucial. The GLFY 2025, like the Digital Conference, aims to amplify their voices and empower them to become effective and informed agents of change.

The Colombian context adds a specific and important dimension: armed conflict affects rural youth’s ability to participate in land governance, increasing their risk of recruitment by armed groups or migration to urban areas. These platforms are essential for addressing these complex realities and developing adapted strategies.

Yilaa: A Launchpad for African Voices

At Yilaa, we are proud to see young African leaders at the forefront of these initiatives. Inspiring figures from our network, such as Doris Munyingi (Groots Kenya), Aicha Salihou (MBOSCUDA Cameroon), Kennedy Kipsigei (OPDP-Kenya), Laureen Ongesa (Reconcile Kenya), Blanco Kiyongo (LJP DRC), Bathromew Shaba (Muyo Malawi), Theresia Raphael (TALA Tanzania), and our own Miriane Kizimini (Yilaa DRC), already exemplify the strong leadership emerging from the continent. We want to see even more African voices represented and amplified on these global stages!

Join us in this journey!

Involvement is essential. Gather your colleagues, friends, and community.

Together, let’s ensure that the priorities of African and global youth shape the world’s agenda on land and climate!
