Accra, Ghana, hosted a landmark event that marks a turning point in the fight against climate change: the press conference of the Africa Climate Band Campaign. This innovative campaign aims to promote sustainable solutions to the climate crisis with a clear message: Africa will no longer just be a victim but will now assert itself as a global leader in ecological solutions.

The central event featured a vibrant concert by the *Africa Climate Band*, accompanied by four prominent African stars. Their performance of the anthem “Africa Will Be The Climate Leader” resonated deeply with the audience. The performance was recorded for a music video that will be broadcast across Africa and beyond. Inspired by the iconic “We Are The World” project, this initiative brings together artists to advocate for a universal cause—this time, the survival of the planet in the face of the climate crisis.

The press conference and concert aimed to highlight the urgency of climate solutions tailored for Africa, which is being severely impacted by rising temperatures, agricultural land degradation, and ocean acidification. Discussions emphasized that traditional methods of reducing carbon emissions are no longer sufficient. Focus was placed on innovative initiatives such as the restoration of ocean ecosystems. By collaborating with over 100 fishing villages across Africa, these initiatives seek to revitalize plankton populations, a key player in absorbing CO2 and neutralizing ocean acidity.

The press event also spotlighted advocates for the land rights of young people and African women, illustrating that climate solutions also require equitable management of resources. This initiative is driven by the Youth Initiative for Land in Africa (YILAA), which works to empower young people socio-economically through access to land.

Additionally, the creation of a popular movement across the continent, fueled by the dissemination of the music video, is expected to push governments and institutions to take more decisive action. Another significant impact will be the strengthening of land rights for young people and women, contributing to more equitable governance of resources in Africa.

Campaign organizers hope that this artistic and social mobilization will have a massive impact across the African continent, with a peak of attention anticipated during the special screening of the music video at the United Nations Climate Conference (COP29) in November 2024 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
