Engaged Participation and High Interest
The conference was a true success, with significant participation from journalists and the public. The discussions highlighted key issues related to land governance while emphasizing the importance of improving young people’s access to land to foster sustainable development in Africa. The speakers outlined the program for CIGOFA 2024, discussing initiatives and strategies to advance youth land rights.
This year’s theme, “Advancing Youth Land Rights in Africa: Empowering Young People to Build a Better Future,” was extensively explored during the press conference. Presentations focused on the current challenges facing young Africans regarding land governance, including barriers to land ownership and the impacts of existing land policies.
Experts showcased innovative initiatives aimed at ensuring equitable access to land for youth, especially in rural areas where challenges are often more pronounced. Young leaders shared their personal experiences, illustrating both the difficulties encountered and the opportunities to improve land management practices.
Participants were also given a preview of the comprehensive agenda for CIGOFA 2024, which promises to be rich in panel discussions, interactive workshops, and training sessions, featuring renowned speakers from various African countries. This event is set to be a dynamic platform for sharing ideas, mutual learning, and developing solutions tailored to local realities.
A Moment of Constructive Exchange
The Q&A session that concluded the press conference allowed journalists and the public to engage directly with the speakers, asking questions about future initiatives, specific regional challenges, and strategies for strengthening land governance. The exchanges were constructive and helped clarify the expectations and objectives of CIGOFA 2024.
The CIGOFA 2024 Press Conference marked an important step in raising awareness about youth land rights and paved the way for in-depth discussions at the main event. As an essential platform for dialogue on land rights in Africa, CIGoFA continues to commit to promoting sustainable solutions and empowering young people to build a better future.
We invite everyone to join CIGOFA 4 from October 20 to 24 at the Mount Meru Hotel in Arusha, Tanzania, either online or in person, and to take part in this transformative journey. Youth land rights are essential for Africa’s sustainable future, and we need everyone’s voice at the discussion table.
