The Annual NGOs Forum (ANGOF) 2024 took place from 4th to 6th September 2024 in Dodoma City at the Jakaya Kikwete Convention Centre. Organized by the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women, and Special Groups in collaboration with the National Council of NGOs (NaCoNGO), the forum aimed to strengthen the coordination and management of NGOs and enhance their contribution to national development.

YILAA Tanzania was represented by Mr. Theodory Ihucha, Capacity Building Officer, who actively participated in discussions about the NGO sector’s role, funding opportunities, legal and compliance policies, and the use of technology to drive growth. The theme of the forum was: “Non-Governmental Organizations are Important Stakeholders, Let’s Involve Them to Strengthen Good Governance.”
The forum spanned three days, with each day focusing on different activities:
– Day 1 (September 4th): The forum kicked off with community outreach activities, including the provision of legal aid services. Throughout the event, NGOs showcased their work through exhibitions.
– Day 2 (September 5th): The focus shifted to policy discussions, legal frameworks, and funding opportunities for NGOs. Speeches were given by NaCoNGO leadership, followed by interactive sessions on improving NGO management, compliance, and coordination.
– Day 3 (September 6th): The final day was marked by discussions on technology and innovation, focusing on how NGOs can leverage modern tools to drive growth. The closing ceremony featured remarks by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Hon. Dr. Dotto M. Biteko.
The forum emphasized collaboration between NGOs and the government, the importance of policy development, sustainable funding mechanisms, and the need for NGOs to adopt technology to improve their efficiency. YILAA Tanzania used the platform to network with other organizations and discuss future events, including the International Land Rights for Youth Conference*to be held in Arusha.

Several key recommendations emerged from the forum, highlighting the need for:
1. Continued Collaboration between the government and NGOs for effective coordination.
2. Policy Development to support the growth and sustainability of NGOs.

5. Adoption of Technology for greater impact and reach.
6. Advocacy and Awareness campaigns to highlight the role of NGOs in national development.
7. Evaluation and Monitoring systems to track the success and impact of NGO initiatives.
This forum was an excellent opportunity for NGOs to share experiences, advocate for policy changes, and collaborate with government entities for national development. It successfully provided a platform for critical discussions on how NGOs can contribute to Tanzania’s development goals. For YILAA Tanzania, it was a valuable networking opportunity, allowing them to forge partnerships and discuss pressing issues such as youth land rights and governance.
