Kick-off of the “Land for Youth: Innovate, Secure, Thrive!” Project in Tanzania

On September 26, 2025, the official launch of the “Land for Youth: Innovate, Secure, Thrive!” project will take place virtually, under the framework of the AU-EU Youth Action Lab Project. This event marks a key milestone in laying the foundation for strong collaboration among stakeholders committed to advancing youth land rights and innovation.

A Project for African Youth

“Land for Youth: Innovate, Secure, Thrive!” aims to strengthen young people’s secure access to land, foster innovation in land use, and promote sustainable livelihoods. The project addresses major challenges such as youth unemployment, food security, and land tenure insecurity, while encouraging youth entrepreneurship and agroecological practices.

This initiative is built on a multi-stakeholder approach, bringing together the African Union (AU), the European Union (EU), Oxfam, Restless Development, YILAA, young entrepreneurs, the Government of Tanzania, and other key actors.

Objectives of the Kick-off Meeting

The launch meeting seeks to:

• Formally inaugurate the project with partners, local communities, youth organizations, and government institutions;
• Align stakeholders on the objectives, expected outcomes, and implementation plan;
• Foster collaboration across local, national, and international levels to build strong synergies;
• Raise visibility and mobilize broad support for the project’s innovative approach.

An Inclusive and Interactive Event

The Kick-off will bring together around 30 to 40 key participants, including government representatives, partner organizations, youth agripreneurs, community leaders, media representatives, and the project management team.

Hosted via the Zoom platform, the event will provide a dynamic and participatory space for dialogue, ensuring shared ownership of the project from the very beginning.

Expected Results

By the end of the meeting, stakeholders are expected to have:

• a comprehensive meeting report,
• a validated initial work plan,
• a strengthened collaboration framework,
• and increased visibility and legitimacy for this international initiative.

This launch marks the beginning of an ambitious journey to empower African youth – particularly in Tanzania to innovate, secure, and thrive through land.
