YILAA Zimbabwe made its presence felt at the prestigious event organized by Ash-Gric during the 15th ADFNS conference, highlighting its efforts to empower youth and women in resilient agri-food systems through inclusive education and skills training

On October 30, 2024, YILAA Zimbabwe actively participated in the “Empowering Youth & Women for Resilient Agri-Food Systems” event held alongside the 15th ADFNS conference and the 20th CAADP Partnership Meeting. This initiative, organized by Ash-Gric and supported by the African Union, aligned with the year’s theme: “Educate an African Fit for the 21st Century.”
The event brought together an impressive range of participants from across Africa, including farmers, researchers, trainers, youth leaders, and SMEs. Discussions explored solutions to improve the inclusion of youth and women in sustainable food systems.
Through its interventions, YILAA Zimbabwe emphasized the importance of inclusive education and tailored training to address local challenges in the agricultural sector. Its representatives actively engaged in the debates, sharing practical experiences and innovative solutions to promote agroecology and the economic empowerment of marginalized groups.
One of the event’s highlights was the announcement of the ambitious “Ash-Gric Agroecology Academy” project. Set to launch in January 2025, this academy will offer specialized courses to enhance skills in sustainable agriculture across Africa. YILAA Zimbabwe committed to supporting this initiative and promoting its impact within Zimbabwe and across the continent.
As a key player, YILAA Zimbabwe continues to align with pan-African goals aimed at transforming agriculture into a driver of socio-economic resilience. This participation underscores its dedication to building an inclusive and sustainable future for all.
