  • Key Expertise and Projects Participatory mapping: He combines drone (UAV) image analysis and satellite positioning signals (GNSS Catalyst DA2) to document the boundaries of agricultural holdings.
  • Conflict management: As a recipient of a grant from the Aubrey Barker Fund, he has published methodological work on the mitigation of land conflicts, particularly in the Mbalmayo area of Cameroon.
  • Gender equality: He analyses regional dynamics in Africa to improve women’s access to and rights over land ownership.

  • Academic Background: PhD: Graduate of the Agrisystem doctoral school at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Italy. His doctoral research focused on the demarcation of agricultural plots and the resolution of neighbourly disputes.
  • Master’s: Holder of a Master’s degree in Human Rights, specialising in land law, from the Université Catholique d’Afrique Centrale (UCAC) in Cameroon.
  • International Research: He was a visiting researcher at the Chair of Geoinformatics at the Technical University of Dresden (TU Dresden) in Germany

Dr Marcel Loyd Minka is a Cameroonian researcher, academic and expert specialising in land governance, property rights and natural resource management in sub-Saharan Africa. He is particularly committed to using technology to resolve land disputes and to empowering young people in the face of environmental corruption.
