The Youth Initiative for Land in Africa (YILAA Tanzania) proudly participated in the National Land Use Planning Commission (NLUPC) Land Use Multi-Stakeholder Forum 2026, organized under the theme: “𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞: 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐔𝐬𝐞 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐚𝐧𝐳𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐚 𝐓𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐚 𝟐𝟎𝟓𝟎.”

Representing YILAA during this important national forum, Theodore Ihucha presented the organization’s innovative digital solutions designed to improve land governance, increase legal literacy, and expand youth access to land opportunities in Tanzania.

Speaking during the session on “Digital Innovations for Land Use and Policy,” Theodore Ihucha highlighted YILAA’s vision of transforming land governance systems through practical, youth-centered, and technology-driven approaches.

At the center of YILAA’s mission is the belief that:
“Moving from the drawing board to the village farm, digital innovation is the bridge that ensures planning becomes practice for every Tanzanian youth.”

During the presentation, YILAA Tanzania showcased two flagship digital platforms developed within its Tanzania project:

KANUNI App

The KANUNI App was presented as an innovative tool aimed at addressing the legal literacy gap in land governance. The platform helps communities, especially youth and women, better understand land laws, procedures, and rights through accessible digital information.

ARDHI Hub Platform

YILAA also introduced the ARDHI Hub Platform, a digital Youth Land Bank created to improve transparent access to land information and opportunities for young agripreneurs. The platform seeks to tackle the persistent challenges of informal land systems, notably:

• Complexity
• Centralization
• Limited Choice

Through these innovations, YILAA Tanzania is actively contributing to inclusive land reforms and promoting digital transformation in land administration.

A key focus of the organization’s work remains strengthening youth and women’s awareness of land rights while increasing secure land tenure. YILAA aims to contribute toward raising secure land access for youth from 20% to 60% by 2030.

By combining technology, legal awareness, and youth empowerment, YILAA Tanzania continues to demonstrate how digital innovation can become a powerful tool for sustainable development and inclusive land governance.
